Learn more about Alex

Alex was a sweet and loving boy. He was one of the first students killed as the shooter unlawfully entered the freshman building. Preying on the defenseless and armed with an AR-15, the shooter aimed through a window outside Alex's classroom and senselessly took Alex and his classmates away from their families and friends forever.

As a freshman, Alex loved the marching band and played the trombone and baritone as part of the Eagle Regiment Marching band - the top marching band in the state of Florida!

Learn more about our foundation

In the early days after the Marjory Stoneman Douglas shooting, I created the Alex Schachter Scholarship fund to keep Alex's memory alive. The fund was designed to raise money for the Marjory Stoneman Douglas Marching band as well as improving school security measures. With your generous support, the Alex Schachter Scholarship Fund has raised over 240k as of 3/15/18. As the month anniversary of this horrible tragedy is upon us it is now time to divide the funds and create a separate campaign specifically designated for school safety. The name of the new fund will be Safe Schools For Alex. 50% of the funds raised to date will be used to help the Stoneman Douglas Marching Band in the form of charitable contributions and scholarships in Alex's name. The other 50% of the funds raised to date will go into the Safe Schools For Alex campaign.

Moving forward, if you want to support the Stoneman Douglas Marching Band please continue to contribute to the Alex Schachter Scholarship Fund. If you want to improve school safety please contribute to the Safe Schools For Alex campaign. Thank you for all your support. We ARE NOW and WILL CONTINUE to make it better for all the children.

This page has been set up by the family of Alex Schachter in Parkland, Florida. Thank you all for your support and generosity.
